UMASA supports freedom of speech and encourages political engagement.

 

The University of Malta Academic Staff Association (UMASA) supports the freedom of speech of staff and students alike. As lecturers we support and indeed encourage healthy and creative political debate. We believe that the University forms the bedrock of our democratic governance. As lecturers we have a moral responsibility to educate and train the leaders of tomorrow. A fundamental part of this education involves fostering a sense of civic engagement on campus. As such we continue to support the development of an informed and constructive political consciousness among our students.
