Remembering Paul Clough

7/31/2019 1:15:01 PM

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you that Prof. Paul Clough passed away sometime on the 25th of July. A professor in the department of Anthropology, Paul was a specialist in Africa, political economy and migration. Paul  was a long-standing member of UMASA since its foundation in the 1990s and he has been an elected member of UMASAs Council since 2009. For those that knew him, Paul was deeply committed to UMASA. He was passionate about workers rights and a firm believer in the role of unions in creating better working conditions. Paul will always be remembered for his outspoken nature, his kindness and compassion. He was always generous with his time and eager to help his colleagues and his students. I have known Paul for over twenty years and his passing is a true loss not only for UMASA and to those of us who knew him and worked closely with him but to the University of Malta.

Paul’s funeral will be held on Monday 5th August at 9.00am at St Paul’s Bay Church.

Transport will be available from the University departing from next to Maltapost at 8.15am. If you would like to travel by bus kindly reserve your seat by writing to Mr David Brincat (david.brincat@um.edu.mt) by no later than Friday 2nd August morning.

Regards,
Jean Paul
